This refers to the ability to recognize the positioning of objects in space and in relation to ourselves.

​

  • Visual spatial skills  can be important in gross motor terms. The child must understand how to manoeuvre within their environment by following those spatial commands. The left/right concept plays a big part in this skill

  • In fine motor terms, visual spatial relations are important for appropriate letter orientation and avoiding reversals. After all, “b” and “d” are the same shape, but are pointing in different directions
